The cell I was in was disgusting. I could smell vomit and God only knew what else surrounding me. The cop hadn’t been past the cells again since throwing me in here. I had a feeling he knew exactly who I was and who I was to Jett, which made it worse when I thought back to the note I’d left for Jett in the apartment. It was a note that may just see me locked up for good if Jett took it seriously.

“Oh, Mr. Policeman,” I called out in the most childish voice I could muster. I pressed my face into the bars for effect. “Mr. Policeman?”

“Shut up!” I heard him call out from down the narrow hall. If I pushed my head to the side, I could see where the light was streaming in from outside.

“Why don’t you come here and say that to my face?”

I heard his boots storming down the hall, the steel caps sounding odd on the cement floor. A smile snaked its way onto my face knowing I was getting to him.

“I said… shut the fuck up.”

“Why? Aren’t I allowed a lawyer at the very least?”

The man smiled, almost sinister in the way it made his eyes turn a darker color. “Jett Black doesn’t have a lawyer on staff.”

My suspicions had been right. He knew of my association with Jett. It made me wonder why he wasn’t scared of Jett. No other police officer would dare to go against him by arresting me. So who the hell was this guy?

“I didn’t say anything about knowing Jett Black.”

“Right.”

There was silence until he finally relented.

“Who are you going to call? The family you killed?”

I fought the urge to roll my eyes at his sarcasm. “What’s your beef with Jett Black anyway?”

“So… it’s true,” he said. “Jett’s found himself a new whore.”

“No… he’s found himself a damned partner.”

The cop smirked. “You think so? Notice how he hasn’t tried to get you out of here? You’re just another whore destined to die for what he told you to do for him.”

“I’m not like anyone Jett has known,” I viciously spat back.

“Yeah, right.” He began to walk away, dismissing me when I called him back.

“You think Jett asked me to kill my family? Shows you how little you know. I killed them without so much as a hint from him. I killed them because I enjoyed watching them cower and plead for their pathetic lives.”

He stopped in his tracks, looking back at me with a stunned expression on his face. “Was that a confession?”

I shrugged. “Were you recording it?”

He bit down, grinding out his response. “No.”

“Then I guess you’ll have to work a little harder to get me to squeal. Now, run off little piggy.”

He moved off again confidently walking back to the doorway. I started to laugh, knowing I had him on edge. I couldn’t stop, not even when he turned back to me as he was about to close the door.

I continued to make little oinking noises even after he closed the door, locking me in darkness.
